How to Apply

Welcome to KapKa! We’re so glad you found us and are excited to share our joyful approach to education with you. As you move through the following steps, you’ll have many opportunities to learn about our school, community, and why our kids and families love to walk through our doors each day.

Our goal in the admissions process is to provide families with the information they need to make the best educational decision for their children, while also having the opportunity to get to know you and your child along the way. 1. GET TO KNOW KAPKA (required). Come for a tour, attend Open House, or both!

   SCHEDULE A TOUR. Tours begin in November and include an introduction to KapKa and a chance to see our classrooms and school spaces in action. You’ll also have an opportunity to talk with some of our teachers, school administrators, and current parents. (Please note that tours are for adults only).

   ATTEND OUR OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10:30 am to noon. Our annual Open House is a fantastic opportunity for your whole family to experience KapKa. Unlike tours, which are for adults only, children are encouraged to attend Open House to explore our school spaces, play, and meet our teachers. This is a free-flowing event. We’ll have teachers, administrators, current parents, and KapKa alumni students available to chat and answer any questions you may have. You’ll also have two opportunities to attend a short presentation about KapKa from our Head of School during your visit.

2. SUBMIT AN APPLICATION. KapKa uses the web-based application FACTS to manage our admissions forms. Go to our application form, which will guide you through a few simple steps to complete your application.

3. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. KapKa is proud of the socioeconomic diversity of our school community and strongly believes in advocating for families who are seeking a cooperative educational model and joyful educational experience, but don’t have the means to pay full tuition. Please see our Financial Assistance page for more information.

4. KIDS VISIT KAPKA (required). Once your application is complete, incoming kindergarten and 1st-grade applicants will be invited to attend one of our Kids Visit KapKa events. This is the final step in the application process, and is a fun event that offers the children an opportunity to come and play for about an hour, see the classroom, and engage with our teachers.

   Children applying in 2nd through 5th grades, or those submitting applications after the scheduled visit dates, will be invited to spend time in the classroom with their peers on another occasion during the school week.

Admission decisions are made without regard to a child’s race, religion, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, gender identity or expression, family structure, or financial status. We believe that all children are gifted and testing is not an effective way to measure a child’s potential. As such, we don’t use formal testing to inform admission decisions. Children must turn five by September 1 to be considered for kindergarten placement.
